Annnd. I’m very excited to announce that my Thanksgiving cacti are in full bloom.  Stunning.  And right on schedule.  See?

Have you ever wondered why these plants are called Thanksgiving cactus and not Christmas cactus?  It is not just about the timing of the blooms.  The differentiating factor is in the stems actually.  Thanksgiving cacti are truncated meaning they have pointed segments in their stems.  Christmas cacti are smooth or rounded.  No points like in the pictures here.

These plants simply need a little water, a sunny windowsill and cool temperatures.  The unique fall blooms will follow.
