I couldn’t be happier about the arrival of Spring. Afterall, it means the arrival of all of the really, really ridiculously good junking. I am totally in my element when uncovering long forgotten vintage goodies in the back of someone’s barn like on Saturday when I scored all of this and some…

Remember what I said last week about only making strategic purchases and buying less blah blah? Well, forget it! I was just kidding but thank god I cleaned out the garage to make room for everyone else’s junk. Woo hoo!

And by the way, I don’t know if I could have timed it better but my long-awaited copy of I Brake for Yard Sales: and Flea Markets, Thrift Shops, Auctions, and the Occasional Dumpster is supposed to drop today in my mailbox! The book is authored by Good Morning America correspondent Lara Spencer who shares her secrets for bargain hunting, restoring, and decorating. Sounds like my kind of girl. She knows a thing or two from her work on Antiques Roadshow. I can’t wait to read it!

Let’s review the weekend loot, shall we? I’ve been on a trunk/foot locker kick lately. Remember my World War II one? I’m still obsessed with it. This one is smaller than most because it is a boy scout locker. It would be the perfect addition in a little boy’s room at the foot of his bed filled with toys or blankets.

Next up are a few pieces of luggage…one fab and one not so fab but I went for it anyway. Irresistible. Yes, I am describing luggage as irresistible. It is vintage.

I may regret this one later because it is not leather but something about the CLUB sticker was appealing at the time.

I hit all of the main food groups in the junking pyramid…luggage, scales and fans!

I always love a few good half aprons.

Never have I ever picked up an old whisk broom but there’s a first time for everything. I kind of like him. I think I’ll keep him.

Amongst all of this junk, I was surprised to find a perfect mid-century clutch unharmed. As much as I love it, I posted it on etsy already if you’re interested.

taking treasure monday on the road

Hello there! I hope you all had a wonderful new year’s celebration. Mine was filled with lots of R&R. What a great way to start the year…well rested! I am so excited for what 2012 has in store. Including growing this ol’ blog and business. As a part of that growth, I hope to connect more with the blogging community because there is simply so much inspiration out there!

If you have been following for a while, you know that I typically post my weekend’s vintage finds on Sunday night or Monday under treasure. Let’s get started! The new year’s picking started off quietly as I’ve been a bit of a hermit. I managed to find this awesome aqua vintage fan. I am loving the color plus the white cage.

And the contrast of the red GE logo is great! Plus it is just the right amount of rusty.

staycation

I love staycations! I spent the last 3 days shopping, antiquing, junking, painting, crafting & gardening. The exterior of our house is full on Christmas now while the inside is still celebrating Thanksgiving. I also managed to find some Christmas gifts. Geez, I’m exhausted come to think of it!

Now onto the treasures…

I made it to several estate sales, an antique mall, junk shop, a flea market and an auction. So here are the highlights. I will spare you the shiny brites (there were many) and glass bottles (only a few).

A coveted petite aqua fan…

A pile of crusty, rusty funnels and a hose head – all with great patina and even a few graphics! I have a future project lined up for these.

A little old US postal scale.

Two sets of old hooks with a great green base. These came out of an old gas station. They were used for hanging hoses and things. I am thinking they would look pretty in a bathroom or mudroom.

A vintage Christmas tea towel.

Ok I have a problem. I bought another retro cooler. This one is aluminum. Why? Why?

You think that is bad. Wait until you see what I am hoarding inside the cooler. More enamelware. I can’t stop. I need to. I have a problem. That is the first step though right? Admitting I have a problem.
