bloomin’ and winnin’

Hello there!

I am very excited to announce a winner for our Poppies and Petals giveaway.

Annnd. I’m very excited to announce that my Thanksgiving cacti are in full bloom.  Stunning.  And right on schedule.  See?

Have you ever wondered why these plants are called Thanksgiving cactus and not Christmas cactus?  It is not just about the timing of the blooms.  The differentiating factor is in the stems actually.  Thanksgiving cacti are truncated meaning they have pointed segments in their stems.  Christmas cacti are smooth or rounded.  No points like in the pictures here.

These plants simply need a little water, a sunny windowsill and cool temperatures.  The unique fall blooms will follow.

Thanks for indulging me.  Back to the winner!  Drumroll please…

introducing poppies & petals

Hey guys!  I have a big week in store for ya.  Let’s kick it off with my first ever giveaway.  I’m pretty excited to have Poppies and Petals as a blog sponsor over on my sidebar.  Yup over there on the right.

Poppies and Petals is your source for handmade cards, invitations and gifts.  I guess you could read that above but seriously P&P will customize whatever you want.  Think wedding invitations, holiday cards and baby announcements.  They’ve got a unique cheerful style so hop over to the etsy store to check it out.

Now for the giveaway…

There is an assortment of 20 all occasion greeting cards up for grabs.  That’s an $80 value!  Basically you will get a mix of birthdays for adults and children, thank you cards, sympathy, wedding, baby and more.  Exact card styles will vary but you will surely be stocked for the year.  In fact, this would even make a great holiday gift.  Come to think of it I gave assorted handmade cards for gifts a few years ago and they were a huge hit!  (Note to self, bring the assorted greeting card gift back for Christmas 2011.)

So how do you enter you ask?

  1. Leave a comment below to enter.
  2. For an extra entry, “Like” Poppies and Petals on facebook.  Come back and let me know you did so with another comment.

Get your entries in by 10 pm EST Friday 11/18/11.  The winner will be selected on Saturday.

Annnnd, wait don’t go…everyone is a winner!
Sort of.

Even if you don’t win the assortment of 20 all occasion greeting cards, you can still receive 20% off of your Poppies and Petals etsy purchase now through the end of 2011.  Just enter coupon code CDSponsor when you make your P&P etsy purchase.  Umm, hello holiday cards?  ‘Tis the season.

I really love this one.  Borderline obsessed actually.

last chance

Clover Market’s last spring sale is taking place this weekend. You have your final opportunity to shop Clover in Ardmore, PA on Sunday, June 5th from 10-4…until fall anyway. There are over 50 vintage, antiques and craft vendors scheduled to set up shop. The biggest yet!

Yours truly will be there…

And Circa Dee now accepts credit cards. That’s right. Visa. Master Card. American Express. Discover. You name it and I’ll swipe it. I will be using Square in combination with my android to make shopping more convenient for my lovely customers. What a great new, ahem, app. Many of the other vendors have moved to Square too.

Dear old mom can’t help me out this time. Apparently she has a previous commitment. I had to recruit my great friend, Renee, of the nearly-famous Poppies and Petals to help pedal some vintage goods. Hopefully Renee will bring along some of her fabulous handcrafted cards and stationery likes these seasonal appropriate Dad and Grad cards…

See you there!
