winter is near

We are just about 3 weeks out until the official first day of winter but the days are definitely shorter and suddenly colder.  Finding quality vintage has also become more challenging.  Estate sales are limited and flea market vendors seem to be hibernating.  I don’t mind just bringing home a few quality pieces at this time of year though.

The white piano stool was my big find when I met Miss Mustard Seed at the flea market last week.  The antique stool has awesome claw feet.  I have been looking for these to use as extra seating around our new-to-us enamelware kitchen table.  White ones are hard to find.  I’m on the hunt for another white piano stool just like it.

I picked up a couple of wooden folding chairs circa 1940’s with great graphics.  One is an old VFW chair and the other (not pictured) is a Knights of Columbus chair.  These will make great extra seating at our new dining room table…which is almost finished by the way.  I guess this is the first I’ve mentioned the ongoing project known as our dining room table come to think of it.  I have been working on restoring a 1920’s drop leaf table for months so stay tuned for a reveal post some time in the next decade.

And last but not least is a gorgeous sky blue steamer trunk that I had to have.  This trunk is the perfect size for a coffee table and provides ample storage. It is so sturdy that it could probably be used for a bench too.

I suppose there was a theme in my hunt last week…extra seating.  Probably because during the long cold winter you just want to pull up a chair and eat.  At least I do.
